Volgens Techworld heeft Microsoft aan haar beta testers verteld dat de anti-virussoftware “Security Essentials” gratis zal zijn.De software is een antivirus en anti-spyware programma dat minder geheugen gebuikt dan commerciële anti-virusprogrammas. Deze versie vervangt het vorige anti-virusprogramma van Windows, de Live OneCare.
