The Denali Experiment
Although I was injured with a few broken vertebrae in my neck during this expedition it was awesome to live vicariously through the edit process! cheers, ~reo ———————————————————- “In a lot of ways, this is the antithesis of the modern ski porn flick. A lot of rock star skiers and not much skiing! Ha! Well, hopefully having a narrative helps the piece along. It was a tough piece to put together with all the different characters. I decided to focus the story on Sage and Lucas and was hoping the piece would give people a sense of who those two characters are besides being rock star skiers/snowboarders. I often feel like the whole process of skiing and who the skiers actually are gets lost in most of the films today.” ~jimmy chin ———————————————————- Free-ride skier Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and big mountain snowboarder Lucas Debari step out of their elements and make an attempt to climb, ski and snowboard Denali. Sage and Lucas get a helping hand from a huge cast of seasoned and professional climbers and ski mountaineers from the North Face Athlete Team, including Hilaree O’Neill, Conrad Anker, Ingrid Backstrom, Jim Zellers, Emilio Previtali and Giulia Monego, as the two embark on the hardest expedition of their lives. ———————————————————— a camp4collective production Director : Jimmy Chin Cinematographers : Jimmy Chin, Matt Irving, Adam Clark Editor: Renan Ozturk Motion Graphics: Barry Thompson, Eric Bucy, Marty Blumen Additional Media: Teton Gravity Research, Absinthe Films, Colby Coombs, Renan, Sage and Lucas Color: Anson Fogel Shot with the 5D and TM900 music in order of appearance: Philip Sheppard Song: Night Vision PhilipSheppard.com Yppah Song: Never Mess With Sunday Myspace.com/Yppah Sun Wukong Project Song: Clear Puzzles in Mjet TheSunWukong.com Ammoncontact Song: Like Waves Of The Sea NinjaTune.net/Artist/Ammoncontact Philip Sheppard Song: The Valley PhilipSheppard.com The Damn Sons Song: Who Wants More DamnSons.com CatacombKid Song: Digital Cliffs CatacombKid.com CatacombKid Song: Water CatacombKid.com Amon Tobin Song: Bloodstone AmonTobin.com Ape School My Intention (Yppah Remix Instrumental) NinjaTune.net/Artist/Ape-School Fink Song: Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us FinkWorld.co.uk Cast: renan ozturk Tags: The denali experiment , denali , the north face , camp 4 , camp 4 collective , jimmy chin , renan ozturk , Hilaree O’Neill , Conrad Anker , Ingrid Backstrom , Jim Zellers , Emilio Previtali , Giulia Monego , Sage Cattabriga-Alosa , Lucas Debari , skiing , mountaineering , adventure , 5d and tm900

In this piece I was interested in mitigating the experience of 2 disparate video projections, one featuring dramatic imagery and one featuring more mundane or banal actions or scenes. These two videos are projected on the exterior of a space. A viewer sits in this space and vertical portions of each montage stream into the room and are projected on the interior walls. These narrow strips of light are not entirely readable; they are transformed into movement, color, and light. I want my viewer to reflect on the loss of meaning and discernment created by the simultaneity and fragmentation of these projections, potentially prompting reflection about contemporary culture. I also desire to create an aesthetic/formal experience for the viewer. rachelknoll.com Cast: Rachel Knoll Tags: installation , projections , projector , lights , stage , video projections , movement , transformation , imagery , mundane , abstract , experience , fragmentation , formal , aesthetic , reflection , documentation , mcad , minneapolis and light painting

Toronto Tempo
If you like my work please visit yourfriendryan.com I love this city. As tribute, I’ve pieced together thousands of photos that I think capture Toronto’s beautiful skyline, and the essence of the lively downtown core. All but one of the scenes in this time-lapse were shot between September and October of this year. In some ways, my presentation of Toronto is a follow up to a recent summer fling in Ottawa, where I produced Capital Cruising; thanks to CTV Ottawa’s interest in using the video as an introduction to their 6 o’clock news, I was able to devote myself to the creation of what I hope is a piece that everyone in the city can enjoy. Thank you to CTV Ottawa for utilizing my last video Capital Cruising ( vimeo.com/26830842 ) for their 6 o’clock news segment, which indirectly funded this project. Thank you, Matt Black, of One King West hotels. You gave me the opportunity to behold some of the best views of the city. You should make this hotel a priority if you are visiting! onekingwest.com/ Thank you, blursurfer. You showed me some crazy vantage points. Please check out his impressive work here: blursurfing.com/ Thank you 1loveto for keeping in touch these past couple months and launching the video. Check them out at: 1loveto.com/ Thank you to my family, Jon B, Layla T, and Martin L. In the future, I’d like to set my sights on Vancouver, and my camera on the province’s sprawling landscape. Or a longer, properly funded Toronto film. If you have any interest in helping me accomplish this goal, e-mail me at: ryanemond747@gmail.com . I’m shooting with: Nikon D700 with various lenses rented from Vistek. Motion with the stage zero dolly from dynamicperception.com/ (Great product, and the best customer service I have ever experienced.) I also use a set of Lee filters and an Orion telescope head for some of the pans. Between Days
Music by: Message To Bears ( messagetobears.com ) Secret Machines ( thesecretmachines.com ) Skriet ( myspace.com/skrietsthlm ) After leaving their home in Banja Luka, Bosnia because of the Yugoslavian war in the beginning of the 90′s, Abdulah Kadenic and his wife Sehaveta ended up in Norway. They lived there for 12 years until Sehavata got so ill that she had to be put in a nursing home. Due to not understanding the language very well and because they never really felt at home in Norway they decided to move back to Bosnia. Abdulah now lives in Sarajevo while Sehaveta stays at a nursing home 90 kilometers from there in the city of Travnik. Every week he visits her. Note: Being in another country with no intentions of recording anything serious I didn’t have access to my usual equipment, only the camera itself and two lenses – the Canon 50mm 1.8 and the Tokina 11-16. That’s why most of the shots are handheld, and the sound and voice-over had to be recorded with the internal microphone.
